Included on the blu-ray disc is a handful of bonus items, including a Musical Moments piece which features all the songs and medleys from the film, all in one place. Push play and turn it up with "play all" option! place -- this formula genuinely produces an image evocative of a classic cinematic appearance. With the addition of artificial film grain, the illusion is trademark excessive visual style and the mostly distracting presence of a miscast Tom Hanks as Elvis' infamous manager, "Colonel" Tom Parker. We see the world of Elvis Presley (Austin Butler) through the eyes of Col. Tom Parker (Tom Hanks). He’s looking for an act that’ll set him for life. He hears about Elvis, a young singer whose musical style was influenced by R&B and gospel. Parker, who witnesses a crowd of young girls lose their minds at a concert, sets out to become Elvis’ manager and thus allowing Elvis to provide for his parents. The rest of the film is, well, things we already know. There’s the controversy of his “hip thrusting” on stage and cleaning up his act for television. And, later on, we meet Priscilla (Olivia DeJonge) and fathering his daughter, Lisa Marie. His movies, the drugs, the weight gain and his final years in Las Vegas. There weren’t a lot of creative liberties taken here, and that’s either the film’s strongest asset or its weakest link. Musical Moments – jump to the various performances in the film, 37 mins (on both the 4K and 1080p blue) I'll leave it at that. There's something we discovered recently that maybe we'll be revealing later. I don't know. I never know what I'm supposed to talk about. So I'm going to just say that. There is only 49 minutes worth of extras here, not counting the 47 minutes of musical selections, but that doesn't really count, since it's just the movie. This collects talking head interviews of the cast and crew talking about making the film.unfortunate, since large portions of the story are told from his perspective -- that it almost derails the entire production when he's seen or specific appearance. And yet Luhrmann and his cadre of screenwriters decide to cut through it all with some stark and brave narrative choices……frame the entire film as a medicated fever dream of Elvis’s long-term manager/nemesis Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks), which not only turns the entire thing into less of a straight-forward biopic and more a battle for the soul of Elvis, but also justifies the assault on the senses that Luhrmann delivers in his typical OTT brand of cinematic excess. only quibble is that it seems mixed a few decibels lower than reference level, which includes the LFE channel, but listeners most will find this to be aViva Australia: Recreating Iconic Locations for Elvis– If you’ve ever been to Graceland you’ll see the amount of detail that went into the production design for this film.
